Durable Solution for Compressor Airfoil Leading Edges in Gas Turbine Engines

UES is currently working with the US Navy to successfully develop environmentally acceptable, erosion-resistant leading edges of compressor airfoils, as this technology is applicable to turbine engines of military aircrafts. This project explores the feasibility of producing erosion-resistant leading edges of compressor airfoils by utilizing advanced surface engineering technologies, as these modified edges will be tested for erosion and corrosion resistance. Commercial applications of the coating are expected to include commercial aircraft engines, land-based turbine systems, and other power plant parts.
