2018 Makes Great 45th Year for UES
January 03, 2019
When we began our 45th year, we were excited for all the year would bring! From company celebrations, to scientific achievements, to community outreach, 2018 did not disappoint.
We started our 45th anniversary year off right with a celebratory kickoff commemorating UES' history starting in 1973 and looking forward to the future.
February brought an exciting win for science when our Biological and Nanoscale Technologies division won a 2018 FLEXI R&D Achievements Award for flexible sensor that monitors human performance that they designed with GE Global Research.
UES also won more contracts this past year for research and development ranging from research in photonic materials technologies, to high temperature wire insulation, to welding technologies for the joining of silicon carbide based ceramics, and more.
Summer brought fun gatherings for our team members like our cornhole competition and our Kings Island picnic, as well as local community events like the UES Fireworks Show at Beavercreek's 4th of July Celebration and Relay for Life Kettering.
UES also had the privilege to host several of the STEM student teams we support and hear about their work in synthetic biology and robotics. Read more about our STEM outreach here!
Team UES loves celebrating the holidays through fun events and generosity, from our Thanksgiving carry-in, to the food pantry drive, to the family holiday brunch, to the Angel Tree supporting Brigid's path.
Our 45th year was a great one, and UES is very thankful for all 2018 brought and even more excited for the future as we continue to solve scientific challenges while making a difference in the community and having fun as a team. Here's to year 46! We're ready for 2019.
