The United States Air Force 711th Human Performance Wing (AFRL / 711th) has awarded UES, Inc., an Eqlipse Company (UES) a $30 million, 5-year contract under the Airman Readiness Medical Research (ARMR) program entitled Airman Improved Readiness (AIR). The effort will pursue innovative technologies to reduce exposure threats to cognitive and physical performance.
A team of scientific and engineering personnel from UES and its collaborators will work with the AFRL/711th in this effort to undertake research in support of optimizing the warfighter by enabling, enhancing, restoring, and sustaining Airmen and Guardians to more effectively execute the Air Force and Space Force missions. The goal of this contract is to design, test, and evaluate technologies for rapid detection and/or prediction of exposure risks to ensure that cognitive and physical performance is sustained across the breadth of multi-domain operations.
Dr. Stephaney Shanks, who is the director of UES' Integrative Health & Performance Sciences division, will lead the effort for UES. Dr. Shanks states that “This is an exciting win for UES. AIR will provide us the opportunity to develop critical solutions for the warfighter, and develop agile strategies for mitigation and characterization of readiness impacts from changing occupational/operational environments.”
Dr. Nina Joshi, General Manager of Eqlipse’s Advanced R&D Sector, attributes UES’ success to the scientific expertise developed as part of the firm’s capabilities in Integrative Health & Human Performance. “It’s also due in part to our unique strengths in managing and executing research projects. This contract complements and continues our research work in these areas at the AFRL/711th.” She adds, “We’re honored to be a trusted partner in this effort.”
