AFRL/711th Awards UES MAST Task Order

September 25, 2023

The United States Air Force 711th Human Performance Wing  (AFRL / 711th) has awarded UES, Inc., an Eqlipse Company (UES) a $15 million Task Order under the Molecular Assessment Sensing Technologies (MAST) research program. The effort will pursue innovative technologies for improved human performance and protection in real-time capabilities, focusing on sensor development and testing in air quality monitoring areas.

shabkssqUES’ Integrative Health & Performance Sciences division personnel won this award by proposing innovative concepts to advance the overall AFRL/711th Mission. Their work in providing scientific knowledge and performing technology development to determine Airman/Guardian state through biological, physiological, and molecular sensing will ultimately enhance Warfighter performance and protection.

Dr. Stephaney Shanks, who is the Division Director, will lead the effort for UES. Dr. Shanks explained that the broad effort encompassed diverse areas of biotech-related development. “We have helped to advance AFRL/711th in fields ranging from biosignature tracking, to chemical sensing for air quality, in laboratory and field research environments. Our team has also helped develop models for “big data” analytics, and used it to create information that informs mission-critical decisions. We’re looking forward to developing robust mechanisms for air quality sensing and looking forward to fielding promising devices.”

Dr. Nina Joshi, President and CEO of UES, Inc., attributes UES’ success to the technical depth of UES’ team and the agile business support that customers recognize and enjoy. “We pride ourselves on being AFRL/711th partners, in advancing their mission and vision. We support the BioTech community at AFRL across Directorates, and we’re honored to continue our research work in these emerging fields. Because our work spans basic, applied, and advanced technology development, we’re excited about the transition potential of some of these technologies as well.”
